Scoring

Your visibility score is a single number from 0 to 100. A higher score means your brand is more present, more prominent, and more positively received in AI responses across the platforms Visbee tracks. A score of 0 means your brand was not detected in any AI responses during the most recent collection period.

The score is designed to give you a single reference point you can track over time without needing to dig through raw data every day.

The visibility score is built from three components. Visbee does not publish the exact formula or how these components are weighted, and that is deliberate (explained below). At a high level, the score reflects:

Frequency — how often your brand appears across the AI platforms and prompts Visbee runs. A brand that shows up in most responses scores higher on frequency than one that appears only occasionally.

Prominence — where your brand appears within the AI’s answer. Being listed first or mentioned in the opening sentence carries more weight than being buried in the fifth point of a list. This matters because AI users tend to act on what appears near the top of a response.

Sentiment — whether the mention is positive, neutral, or negative. Visbee detects the tone of each mention and factors it into the score. A negative mention still counts as visibility, but it brings the score down compared to a neutral or positive one.

Use these ranges as a rough guide:

ScoreWhat it suggests
0-20Your brand rarely shows up in AI responses. There is significant room to establish presence.
20-40Some visibility exists, but it is likely inconsistent across platforms or prompt types.
40-60Solid presence in your category. You appear regularly, though there is room to grow.
60-80Strong visibility. Your brand is one of the go-to answers AI assistants give in your space.
80-100Dominant AI visibility. The focus at this level is maintaining and defending your position.

These ranges are approximate. The right benchmark for your brand is your own trend over time, not an absolute number.

Scores move slowly by design. A single collection will not swing your score dramatically because the score averages across multiple prompts and platforms. Short-term fluctuations are normal and expected. What matters is the 30-day trend, not day-to-day movement.

If you see a large change, check whether a new competitor entered the tracking set, a platform was added to your plan, or a notable piece of coverage appeared (or disappeared) in a source AI platforms frequently cite.

The scoring formula is not public for two reasons. First, keeping it stable and undisclosed means scores stay comparable over time even as Visbee refines how it collects and weighs data. Second, a published formula would invite gaming, which would degrade the accuracy of results for everyone.

The components described above are the real drivers. Focusing on earning genuine coverage in credible sources, having a clear brand presence, and getting mentioned positively is the most direct path to a higher score.

Your visibility score appears on the Dashboard as soon as your first collection completes. For detail on the individual mentions that make up your score, and guidance on how to improve sentiment and prominence, see Mentions and sentiment.
