Core concepts

These definitions cover the core vocabulary used in Visbee. Understanding these terms will help you interpret your dashboard and get more out of the platform.

One of the AI assistants that Visbee queries during a collection: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, and DeepSeek. Each platform has its own training data, retrieval behavior, and tendencies for how it mentions brands, which is why scores often differ across platforms.

A measure of how often and how prominently your brand appears when AI assistants answer questions related to your industry. High AI visibility means AI platforms are regularly recommending or referencing your brand in relevant contexts.

The entity you are monitoring in Visbee. A brand is defined by its name, primary domain, industry, and a short description. Visbee uses these attributes to generate prompts and detect mentions across AI platforms. See Brands & competitors for setup details.

A single automated run in which Visbee sends your configured prompts to every AI platform you’re tracking and records the responses. A collection produces a visibility score, mention data, sentiment labels, and source citations. Collections run automatically on a schedule based on your plan. See Collections.

A brand you’ve added to Visbee alongside your own so you can compare AI visibility side by side. Visbee monitors competitors using the same prompts it uses for your brand, which means the comparison is apples-to-apples. The number of competitors you can add depends on your plan.

A single instance where an AI platform named or clearly referenced your brand in response to one of your prompts. Each mention is stored in the mention feed with its source platform, the prompt that triggered it, a sentiment label, and any cited sources. See Mentions & sentiment.

A qualifier that describes how centrally a mention appears in an AI answer. A brand mentioned as the primary recommendation carries higher prominence than one listed as a footnote or an afterthought. Prominence contributes to how mentions are weighted in your visibility score.

A question or instruction that Visbee sends to an AI platform during a collection. Prompts are automatically generated based on your brand’s industry and description. They are designed to surface the kinds of answers a real user might receive when researching your category. See Prompts.

Another word for collection, used interchangeably throughout the UI. For example, “the last run” and “the last collection” both refer to the most recent completed execution.

A label that describes the tone of an AI answer when it mentions your brand. Visbee classifies mentions as positive, neutral, or negative based on how the AI described or recommended the brand in context. Aggregate sentiment is visible on the dashboard and in the mention feed. See Mentions & sentiment.

A percentage that represents your brand’s mentions as a proportion of all mentions across your brand and its competitors during a collection. If Visbee observed 100 total brand mentions and 35 were yours, your share of voice is 35%. This metric is the primary way to compare your AI presence to competitors at a glance.

A URL that an AI platform cited when generating a response. Sources give insight into which websites AI assistants treat as authoritative in your category. Tracking sources helps you understand which content is driving AI recommendations. See Sources & domains.

A composite score that summarizes how visible your brand is in AI answers for a given collection. It takes into account how often your brand was mentioned, how prominent those mentions were, and the sentiment around them. The score is shown on a scale on the dashboard and is the main number to track over time.
