Editing a brand's details
Your brand profile and competitor list are the foundation of everything Visbee tracks. The platforms you add, the categories you set, and the competitors you choose all feed directly into the prompts Visbee sends to AI platforms. Getting this setup right from the start means your data will be meaningful from the first collection.
Your brand profile
Section titled “Your brand profile”When you add a brand, you provide a name, website domain, industry, and a short description of what your company does. Visbee uses this information to generate the prompts it sends to AI platforms, so the quality of your description matters. A vague description leads to prompts that miss the mark; a clear, specific one helps Visbee ask exactly the kinds of questions your potential customers are asking.
You can edit your brand details at any time from the brand settings page. Changes take effect in the next collection run. Historical data collected before the edit is retained but reflects the prompts that were active at the time. See Collections for how the update cycle works.
How Visbee identifies brand mentions
Section titled “How Visbee identifies brand mentions”Identifying a genuine brand mention in an AI response is trickier than it sounds. AI platforms sometimes use brand names in passing, or discuss a concept that shares a name with your company. Visbee cross-references your brand name with your domain and uses contextual signals to distinguish intentional references from coincidental ones. This keeps your mention count meaningful rather than inflated.
Editing or removing a brand
Section titled “Editing or removing a brand”To edit a brand, navigate to your brand settings and update any field. The changes roll into the next collection automatically. You do not need to trigger anything manually.
If you remove a brand from an active account, it stops appearing in new collections. Past collections and mentions remain accessible in the dashboard as long as your subscription is active. Export anything you want to keep before removing the brand if you think you might need it later.
Competitors
Section titled “Competitors”Adding competitors lets you see share of voice: how often your brand is mentioned compared to theirs across the same AI responses. Without competitors, the dashboard still tracks your brand, but you lose the comparative context that makes the data actionable.
Choosing the right competitors
Section titled “Choosing the right competitors”A few tips from teams that get the most out of their Visbee setup:
Start with direct category competitors. Add the brands a customer would naturally compare you against when searching “best X for Y.” These are the names most likely to appear in the same AI responses as yours.
Keep the list focused. Diminishing returns kick in quickly past around five to seven competitors in most categories. A shorter, more targeted list gives you cleaner share-of-voice data and makes the mention feed easier to read.
Revisit quarterly. Your competitive landscape shifts over time. A quarterly review of your competitor list, roughly aligned with your planning cycle, keeps the data relevant.
What competitor data shows you
Section titled “What competitor data shows you”When a competitor appears in an AI response that you do not, Visbee flags it. This is the gap you want to close. The Sources and domains view even shows you which publications are cited in competitor mentions but not in yours, giving you a concrete list of outreach targets.
Connecting brand setup to prompts
Section titled “Connecting brand setup to prompts”The information you enter here flows directly into the prompts Visbee sends to AI platforms. You do not write prompts yourself; Visbee generates them based on your industry, category, and description. If you notice a gap in what is being tracked, updating your brand description is often the fastest fix. See Prompts for more on how this works.
